Burnet Surplus Land Bid Solicitation No. 2020-001

On August 18, 2020, the City received an email from the owner of adjoining property proposing to extend the “25-foot-buffer” along the portion of the owner’s property touching the golf course in exchange for an equal dollar amount reduction in price of the Burnet Land and impervious cover, and green belt credits.  The proposal also provided for 1% earnest money down.

The City’s response was as follows: Because the city is limited by statute as to how it can offer surplus real property for sale, I am going to request you include your proposal as part of your response to the city’s request for sealed bids.  I apologize that we cannot negotiate this sale like is typical in the private sector.  You may choose to include your proposal as an alternate responsive bid or as your bid.  Please be mindful that the City typically pays between 50% and 70% of the appraised property value for acquisition of easements.
